The Locky Virus appears as a Microsoft Word attachment to an email.

We have received a number of reports from customers affected by the international “Locky” virus. The virus affects impacted computers by encrypting all files on the machine and demanding a ransom paid via bitcoin.

The virus is spread via a legitimate-looking email requesting payment of an invoice. Included in the email is a Microsoft Word attachment that uses a “macro” to encrypt files on the infected computer. All shared network drives can also be affected. Please be extra vigilant when opening attachments from an untrusted source.

We suggest taking the following preventative steps:

  • If you receive an email from an untrusted source with a Microsoft Word document attached, DO NOT open the document.
  • If you happen to open a suspicious Word document that requests permission to run a macro, DO NOT enable macros.

The Locky virus is also taking other forms: it can be spread via email attachments of any file type. To learn more about the Locky virus, read this article via iDigitalTimes.

If you are a Constellation customer and have experienced the Locky virus at your company, please contact Customer Care immediately at (800) 411-2020.

Thank you,

The Constellation Team

Who are we? and What do we want to be?

Every member of The New Home Company team asks themselves these two simple questions when they step into the office or the job site. The answers are the same: We are how and where our customers want to live. And we want to continue to be that.

For CEO Larry Webb and the management team at The New Home Company, these daily questions drive a culture that has created one of the fastest-growing public builders of the past decade. Impressive, especially for a company that incorporated in 2009.

These two questions drive The New Home Company’s culture in everything they do: across divisions of hierarchy, geography, discipline, and focus, these questions pull everyone together. They fuel the team and focus them on a common goal. They are measurable and actionable. These are the keys to authentic corporate culture in any industry – and The New Home Company is a perfect example.

Homebuilder Supply Chain Pain Points

Managing the various stages of the homebuilding supply chain is critical in order to maximize profits at each stage. Last week, we heard from Scott Sedam that last year’s trade labor shortages will trickle down into this year’s material shortages. Communicating future purchasing needs from the buyer (that’s you, the builder) down the chain allows each participant to plan effectively and maximize resources. It also ensures you get your lumber when you need it.

BIG BUILDER presents a graphical representation of how a lack of communication can add time and money to the process of purchasing. This targeted look at each step in the chain can serve as your road map to success.

Homebuilder Supply Chain Pain Points:

  1. Raw Materials: suppliers base their work on estimates from the manufacturer.
  2. Manufacturers: with little information, manufacturers are forced to estimate future demand.
  3. Distributors: guessing quantities, sizes, colors, etc.
  4. Dealers: routinely react to one-to-two-day lead times.
  5. Trade Contractors: last-minute changes cause trades to arrive (or not) at the wrong time.
  6. Builders: you are felt to pick up the costs.

We consider Scheduling, Estimating and Purchasing to be a fundamental part of the production process. Because our solutions integrate a single software platform throughout your business, you are able to effectively communicate purchasing intentions through to your trades without additional bells and whistles.

Our systems, like NEWSTAR, FAST, and BuildTopia, include trade partner portals designed to allow builders to communicate effectively down the chain. Request a demo for more information.

Request a demonstration of how our solutions can help with these goals.
